Whether you are hosting or attending a Christmas party, you can’t go wrong with a festive cocktail. J’AIME has compiled the perfect list to wow every cocktail lover!

Chocolate Eggnog

Welcome to chocolate Heaven with this rich, creamy, festive goodness!

What you need:

  • 4 egg yolks
  • 150g caster sugar
  • 500ml whole milk
  • ¼ nutmeg, grated, plus extra to serve
  • 100g dark chocolate, chopped
  • 300ml double cream
  • 100ml bourbon

Step 1- 

  • Beat the egg yolks and sugar with an electric whisk until pale and thick with the mixture leaving a thick trail on the surface of your mixture.

Step 2-

  • Warm the milk and nutmeg in a pan over a low heat until simmering. Put the chocolate in a large heatproof bowl and pour over the hot milk mixture, stirring until completely melted and smooth.

Step 3-

  • Pour a little of the chocolate milk mixture into the beaten egg yolk mixture, whilst continuously whisking.
  • Add a third of the milk and whisk again, then repeat twice more until all the milk is added.

Step 4-

  • Pour the eggnog into a pan and add the double cream.
  • Cook over a low heat, stirring continuously until thickened slightly – it should coat the back of a spoon.
  • Add the bourbon, chill until cold, then pour into glasses and top with grated nutmeg to serve.

 

 

Gingerbread Martini

A classic cocktail with a sweet, nutty twist. It is the perfect party favour for all your guests!

What you need:

  • 200ml vodka
  • 50ml hazelnut-flavoured liqueur
  • 25ml herbal digestif or liqueur
  • 50g dark brown soft sugar
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • strip of lemon peel
  • First, make the ginger syrup – put the sugar, ginger, cinnamon, lemon peel and a pinch of black pepper in a pan with 50ml water and bring to a simmer.
  • Stir until the sugar has dissolved, turn off the heat and leave to infuse until cold.

Step 2-

  • Strain through and discard the lemon peel.
  • Pour the syrup into a 500ml bottle along with all the alcohol and 100ml cold water.
  • Shake and chill until needed.

Step 3-

  • To gift, package up the cocktail base and the instructions: Chill, then divide between four chilled glasses and serve straightaway.

Peppermint Mojito

Sweet but refreshing, a delicious twist on a classic!

What you need:

  • 25ml freshly squeezed lime juice
  • 50ml white rum
  • 15ml mint syrup (see recipe below)
  • ice
  • 100ml sparkling water
  • 1 peppermint candy cane, to garnish
  • 100g golden caster sugar
  • ½ tsp peppermint extract

Step 1-

  • First, make the syrup. Heat the sugar and 100ml water in a pan over a medium heat until the sugar has dissolved.
  • Turn off the heat and stir in the peppermint extract. Leave to cool completely.

Step 2-

  • Pour the lime juice into a tall glass. Add the rum, 15ml of the mint syrup and a handful of ice. Stir well, then top up with the sparking water.
  • Stir gently to combine, then garnish with the candy cane.
