Up your holiday wardrobe game with the holy trinity of holiday style; Amy Norbury checks out the swimwear, sunnies and sandals to invest in this season

As holiday season kicks in and the prospect of jetting off to sunnier climes for a week or two of relaxing poolside posing and beach bar hopping inches ever closer to reality, it’s time to turn your attention to the all-important holiday wardrobe.

You may think holidays are all about the three S’s-sun, sea and sand-and you’d be right; but holiday fashion has three S’s all of its own. Swimwear? Check. Sunnies? Check. Sandals? Check! Let’s go.

Now, with Covid lockdowns and travel restrictions all but killing off the need for beach attire, it might be time to invest in some new summer staples.

After several seasons in the doldrums – understandably – swimwear is back in a big way. When even designer giants like Chanel are showcasing swimwear on their SS22 catwalks, you know it’s time to sit up, take notice and trade in your worn old one-piece for something with a little more oomph.

And oomph is exactly what we’re getting from our swim attire this season. To get the look, think that little bit extra.

Belted swimwear may be nothing new, but it’s certainly one look to watch. Evoking the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era, there’s just something irresistibly chic about a belted one-piece, while the freshest take sees bikini bottoms with added belted features.

Luxurious embellishments such as gold rings and chains, glitter and metallics are also trends to look out for if glamour is your top swimwear criteria.

When it comes to prints this season throws down the gauntlet, as it’s a case of the bolder, the better. Animal prints, wild jungle motifs and Seventies-inspired oversized florals will ensure you stand out from the crowd; these aren’t prints made for shrinking violets.

Invest in a casually chic cover-up to throw on when you’re popping to the bar, and team with some quality leather sandals and a pair of oversized shades-naturally-and your holiday look is complete.
