What’s new when Alton Towers reopens?

A month-long carnival celebration and three new pop-up outdoor rides are just some of the new attractions awaiting when Alton Towers resort reopens its doors on April 12.

Alton Towers Resort has announced it is planning to host a series of fantastic celebrations and entertainment for 2021. Guests can expect never-ending fun this season as the UK’s biggest theme park introduces an exciting brand-new carnival themed celebration, as well as the return of fan favourites, spooktacular Scarefest and Oktoberfest.

As the theme park prepares to re-open from April 12, Alton Towers Resort will roll out its programme of festivities to celebrate unforgettable adventures, spending time with friends and family, and making memories together at Britain’s greatest escape.

This season will see the arrival of three retro-inspired, pop-up outdoor rides for guests to enjoy, providing a thrilling trip down memory lane.

The calendar of entertainment includes:

NEW FOR 2021: Mardi Gras (May 22 – June 20)

Guests will get to kick off summer as the resort hosts its first Mardi Gras inspired takeover. new carnival style celebration is set to dazzle, thanks to an explosion of colours, sounds, high energy entertainment and so much more ahead of a fun-packed summer of thrills.

Oktoberfest (September 11 – October 3)

Following the success of last year’s event, the Alton Towers Oktoberfest oomptastic fun is returning this autumn and it is going to be bigger and better than ever. Families and thrill-seekers will be in for more than a treat with the chance to ride the resort’s world-class rollercoasters as darkness falls, try some utterly delicious food and enjoy delightfully themed entertainment, all in a cheerful, family-friendly atmosphere…with a German twist.

Scarefest (October 8 to 10 and 16 to 31)

As the days grow shorter and the nights get darker, Scarefest returns. Guests can expect all sorts of creepy scares, shocks and thrills as they experience the frantically funny to seriously spooky themed attractions, all wrapped up in a spooktacular Halloween atmosphere.

Fireworks (November 5 – 7)

For spectacular sights and incredible sounds, the Alton Towers Resort fireworks display will dazzle guests with the most astonishing displays across the UK, with electrifying bursts, bangs and howls of amazing fireworks to music, lights and live action storytelling.

Christmas (November 27 – December 23)

This Christmas families can make magical memories with a Santa’s Sleepover and new for 2021, guests can visit the brand-new Towers Christmas Markets, the perfect Christmassy escape this festive season.

We are excited to be able to offer something brand new for our guests, as well as stage the return of our popular Oktoberfest, Halloween celebrations and awesome fireworks show.

“We are really looking forward to welcoming our guests back to the resort – we’ve got a team of essential workers currently on site preparing for reopening to ensure we create a safe, memorable, exciting and family-friendly atmosphere that our guests know and love.”

Alton Towers Resort has implemented a wide range of measures to help ensure social distancing and good hygiene whilst guests enjoy a fun day out including enhanced cleaning regimes, social distancing, temperature checks and mask wearing on rides and attractions for those aged over 11 years (unless medically exempt).

The theme park will be operating on reduced capacity to aid social distancing and all guests are required to pre- book.
