Enjoy a festive foodie evening at Sandon Hall

Tickets are on sale now for an evening of seasonal wine pairings and tastings in the beautiful setting of Sandon Hall

The evening with wine expert and author Bert Blaize will feature wine tastings and seasonal pairings with cheese, charcuterie, chocolate and ice cream from local producers. 

This festive gastronomic event kicks off with a drink on arrival at Sandon Hall, the stunning stately home 6 miles north of Stafford which features as ‘Trentham Hall’ in recently released film The Colour Room, about the life of Stoke-on-Trent ceramic artist Clarice Cliff.  

Guests will learn how to curate the perfect cheese board with all the trimmings for their festive table. Bert will be your guide as you taste a variety of sparkling, red and white wines, including some from Staffordshire’s own Halfpenny Green Wine Estate and Grove Estate Vineyard. You’ll also enjoy a generous selection of British cheeses, plus charcuterie and sweet treats from food and drink producers based within and around the county. 

Bert will also be signing copies of his first book Which Wine When, co-authored with Claire Strickett – an ideal Christmas gift for anyone who wants to find just the right wine for every occasion. Born and raised in Staffordshire, Bert trained in front of house at La Belle Epoque in Manchester and Raymond Blanc’s Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons before taking the reins at the Clove Club in Shoreditch.

He was recently named the UK’s Top Young Sommelier by Flint Wines, and currently takes care of the wine at Serge et le Phoque in London’s Fitzrovia. This will be the first taste of a planned series with Bert, journeying through the seasons in wine and food pairings.  

The event takes place on Sunday 5 December between 4pm and 7pm. Tickets are priced at £45 per person, including wine and grazing boards.
